Product Description

Hemcrete®

Tradical® Hemcrete® challenges conventional thinking regarding building materials and techniques, manufactured from sustainable hemp fibres or shiv and a specially prepared lime based binder. It can be sprayed or cast in situ at various thicknesses, from 300mm to 500mm depending upon requirements, to create high thermal mass and highly insulated buildings, which use less energy for space heating and cooling. Tradical® Hemcrete® helps to reverse the damage caused by the effects of greenhouse gases, and locks up approximately 110kg of CO2 per m3 of wall and provides one of the best value materials for low impact, sustainable and commercially viable construction. Produced mainly from renewable sources, Tradical® Hemcrete® is mixed on site for fast construction times and delivers high levels of insulation, air-tightness and vapour permeability.

Properties:
• Low density
• High thermal insulation
• High sound insulation
• High thermal inertia
• Good vapour permeability
• Good flexibility
• Fire and pest resistant
• Can significantly reduce CO2 emissions
• Inherently airtight structures
• Low waste

Building beautiful and creatively designed houses which are; environmentally friendly, high thermal and acoustic properties, whilst encorporating the natural home principles of healthy living spaces. Tradical® Hemcrete® offers a diverse way of building, allowing greater architectual freedom from the ridgid brick and block method of traditional building methods. Great for renovating old buildings due to its diversity and adapability to irregular shapes, to extensions or new build due to Tradical® Hemcrete's® lightweight, high thermal mass and insulation properties, offers unrestrained imagination in the building design and layout . It is not structually load bearing, and a structural frame is required to distribute roof loading and the implied loads. A timber frame is best suited, as the timber can breathe through the fabric of the building, steel can be used and will need to be treated accordingly for moisture resistance.

Tradical® Hemcrete® can be blown or cast in situ, offering quick build times and the knowledge that the overal cost is comparative if not cheaper. The walls do need to be cured to set before finishings can be applied, which can take several days. But overal is still quicker than conventional brick and mortar. The cured wall, can then be rendered or other cladding system used to finish the wall. A lime based render is suitable so that building is still allowed to breath, this enables moisture to pass though the building and encompasses the breathing wall system of building, again a more natural and harmonious environment for the occupants, and part of the natural home way of thinking.
